May 21 @ 11am Masters and Champions Martial Arts will be hosting a tactical flashlight seminar. The seminar is $25 pre-registered or $35 at the door. Students have the option to bring their own flashlight, purchase one at the seminar, or use one of the wooden dowels provided/ extra flashlights at the seminar. Participants must be 13 years or older.

Well, our Scottish Backhold Wrestling tournament on August 2nd was a smashing success. All competitors had an amazing time and we loved hosting it. We ran a children's light and heavy weight divisions and an adult light and heavy weight divisions as well as our bairn division for the wee lads and lasses.
Everyone one got several opportunities to experience SBW and at the end the kids in the bairn division got to challenge the adult of their choice to square off with in a match.

I wanted to announce that we will be adding a new division for our Scottish Backhold Wrestling event. The Bairn division is a division for the wee lads and lasses 6 and under to throw around some of our assistant instructors and senior students in a fun and entertaining environment. This division is free and open to any kiddo 6 and under to play.

On August 2nd, Grand Blanc Freestyle Judo Club will be hosting a Scottish Backhold Wrestling Seminar and Tournament open to everyone in Grand Blanc, MI (Soccer Zone). Starting a 10:00am we will have a one hour seminar about Scottish Backhold Wrestling and its techniques. After we will host the first SBW tournament in Michigan.

Saturday July 26 the Grand Blanc Freestyle Judo Club will be hosting a seminar with Mark Tripp Sensei (Judo 6th Dan and Jujitsu 8th Dan). Tripp Sensei has trained such fighters/grapplers as Dan Severn and Ronda Rousey and has learned from judo greats like Judo Gene LeBell and Gokor Chivichiyan. Tripp Sensei has had the privilege of training in Japan during his military career and is one of the top Judo and Sambo instructors in Michigan.

What is this clinic?
In this 2 hour clinic students ages 6-12 will learn the basics of throwing and pinning techniques through games and activities. At the end of the seminar students will leave with a Little Tiger Certificate of Completion and a better understanding of how to control themselves and their opponents. This clinic will be taught by Michael Hough Sensei, AAU certified coach and head of the Grand Blanc Freestyle Judo Club.

Take notice members and fans that the GBFJ club and Masters and Champions Martial arts will be moving within the next month or so; most likely at the beginning of september. Sunday, June 19th, the Elite Federation of Grapplers hosted a jiu jitsu tournament in Detroit. Hough Sensei as well as Mr. Matt White (Green Belt Freestyle Judo) competed. Hough Sensei competed in the men's advanced nogi 140-149 lbs and took first place by submitting all opponents. Mr. White competed in the Master's (35 and over) White belt gi 160-169 lbs and won both of his matches by point submission taking an early lead in each match with a beautifully executed throw.
